What is an API？
What is API? For many non-IT people, API ≈ do not understand.
API stands for Application Program Interface. It is a set of subroutine definitions, protocols and tools used to build application software.
The purpose is to provide applications and developers with the ability to access a set of routines based on certain software or hardware without having to access the source code or understand the details of the internal working mechanism.
The role of API
For software providers, only by setting aside APIs for other applications to call to form an ecosystem, can the software exert the greatest value and be more vital.
For application developers, with an open API, they can directly call the functions done by multiple companies to make their own applications. They do not need to do everything by themselves and save energy.
In the era of cloud computing and sharing economy, API is a method for technical service providers to provide services to customers.
